a friend of mine wants a new tv for his consoles and he has a £700 budget
i found these 2 but im not sure what one to reccommend to him, he said picture quality is more important than size but it has to be over 30"

here are the 2 i found, i know i could find better prices online but he wants to collect them from a store so im going by the highstreet prices & both are £699

first is the 40" Samsung LE40A556
Specs

and the 2nd is the 32" Sony Bravia KDL32W4000
Specs

from what i have been reading both are good brands so what would you go for?

Panasonic Viera TH42PX80 Plasma TV

can get for about 600 pound if you shop around awesome picture quallitys once you done the 200 hours on a low britness image burn is very rare :)

Well, if he want's picture quality over size then the sony 32w4000 is the better choice.

The Sony 32W4000 has a better engine, processor, sound, colour and is more reliable than the Samsung A5 series.

Hasn't he looked at them in the shops ?

You can't always tell how good an lcd is in the shop, but it gives you a rough idea what you prefer.

You can get J7&& to pricematch **, for example, for the £699 but you get a free 5 year warranty with ()& also.

The 32inch W series is probably ok, but 700 on a 32inch lcd is bordering on madness

Best value tv in this pricerange is the 42inch panasonic px80. plus he will have about 70quid to spare to put towards more films games etc. Really no contest in this price range.

do u mean image retention or does the screen actually decrease in size....coz it would be one hell of a party trick if it could do that

thanks for all the replies :) ill look at some of these other suggestions
my tv is a old Samsung LE26R74BD & he is impressed with the picture quality on that, am i right in thinking that most of the sets mentioned are going to be a lot better than the one i have?

They will blow it away especially the panasonic PX80. Not blown away by a handgun, more of a capret bombing run ;)
