As title really. I received this through the post today from ADAC, who are my car breakdown cover provider. It's a long irrelevant story, but they're the only ones who'd give me full European breakdown cover for a 21 yr old car. They're very good, but they're also very German.

I ordered a Camping Card International from them a few months ago for France and they don't seem to be able to accept my credit card payment, despite having no issue with accepting it in payment for the breakdown cover a few days earlier.

After faxing them the details yet again last week, I received this. I can't read the writing on this let alone try to translate it. Can anyone help at all?? I would be most grateful!

A payment by credit card is unfortunately not possible.

Best I can make out by transcribing and doing babelfish online translation :p

Hehe I've worked about that much out. I only owe them 6 Euros. Might just send them the cash and hope for the best.
 
Send the money in an evelope with a pice of paper that simply says

The War


wait for them to translate it

I've just translated the bit at the top of the letter saying "gutschrift nr", which means "credit note". It then gives the amount and says something at the bottom which translates to "As plant they keep your camping international card"

Are they letting me off? :confused:

Might send them 10 Euros in the post anyway in case they send the Gestapo round

I'm not very good at reading german handwriting , been a while since german school .
 
Thinking about it, makes sense that they've credited you, as the transfer costs and telephone costs would have been more costly than the amount owed.

In Germany it is very common to pay everything via transfer, rather than credit cards - an international transfer for such a small amount would be a waste of time.

So it should read...

The amount was credited out of financial reasons, because the transfer and telephone would have cost more - payment by credit card unfortunately not possible.

You've got most of it there. If the word is Kunlanzgründen (can't make out handwriting then) it means the amout was written on grounds of kindness as the transfer charge would have cost more.
Not 100% sure though.

Thanks, I was getting "the amount was written off from kulauzjruuden (couldn't work out what that said), there the transmission & the telephone had more cost"

Looks like I've been let off :D
 
I knew there would be someone who happened to be fluent in German on here. Good old OcUK :D

Thanks a lot guys. At least I won't be receiving nasty payment reminder letters that I don't understand from them anymore :D
