I purchased the following from OCUK:

AMD Athlon 64 3000 Newcastle 130nm (Socket 754) - Retail (CP-070-AM)

However when I run CPU-Z it says I have a:

AMD Athlon 64 3000 Venice 90nm

How can I tell which CPU I actually have? :p

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment to go through the whole rigmarole of removing heatsink & paste plus repasting - is there any other way that I can be sure? :p

To be frank, it's definitely a venice. Not only does it state 90nm and venice, it shows E6 stepping and a core voltage of 1.392V. Newcastle cores are 1.5V.

Excellent!

Looks like I'll be making my first steps into the world of overclocking and see how fast I can get it running with the stock cooler that it came with. :D

Righty ho, the CPU is marked with the following:

ADA3000AIK4BX
CBBWE0542FAH
X035257J51***

Venice or not Venice. That is the question! :p
