Can DVI-I from GPU output @ 120hz on Monitor?

I have a MSI GTX560ti graphics card and i recently had to return the BenQ XL2420t monitor because i was having problems getting a signal through the DVI cable.


My graphics card clearly states on the box that it has 2 x DVI-I connections.


If i connect DVI from graphics card to DVI on the monitor using a dual link DVI cable, am i correct in saying that i should be able to get a 1080p display @ 120hz?


Can anyone think of a reason why it simply refused to work for me? All i get was the monitor saying "No signal".


The company i sent it back to gave me a full refund but said that it worked perfectly for them.


I am confused :(
 
- Mini HDMI from GPU to HDMI monitor worked fine @ 1080p @ 60hz
- DVI from GPU to D-SUB VGA worked fine @ 1080p @ 60hz
- DVI from GPU to D-SUB VGA worked fine @ 1440p @ 120hz (maximum vga cable can do)
- DVI from GPU to DVI on old my monitor worked fine @ 1080p @ 60hz (using the BenQ supplied DVI cable)


- DVI from GPU to DVI on BenQ monitor did not work at all. Got no picture and just a constant "No signal" message.




Do all GPU's have DVI-I outputs?

It's not that my graphics card is incapable of 1080p output @ 120hz is it?
 
On the topic of DVI, if I get a dvi to hdmi convertor and plug my monitor into my gfx card through a HDMI lead will I get a better picture?
