Before I send back my non ECC RAM (which OCUK will gladly refund ), I was just wondering if the ECC function can be disabled in the server bios?

As the server is only for home use, is ECC really that important??

Usually you can run non ECC ram in an ECC capable board, but not vice versa.
All the boards I've used non ECC ram in don't care which it runs and just uses either (if you mix RAM then ECC stays off)

Strange. As soon as i turned on my machine it was throwing up the system health alarm. It was inserted in the correct slots so im not sure. I fired it up there a while ago and went into the bios but couldn't see anything to do with ECC settings, even in advanced settings.

Not to worry, i'll get what it requires to save any hassle.
