Can Homeplugs be plugged into a 4 way extension lead?

Hi all,

Sorry - might be a silly question - But can homeplugs be plugged into an extension lead? or do they have to be plugged into a mains socket?

They can be but it is not recommended by the manufacturer. Should be fine though. Some people on here have done it with no problems.

Tried it on mine and didn't seem to have a problem. I think it is just recommended for best signal strength to have it plugged into the main socket.

I have a set of Devolo plugs in a 6 gang extension and they work great

It seems to depend on the extension lead! I had to do this myself recently, and I discovered that an expensive hifi-orientated extension seemed to filter out the signal altogether (which I suppose shows that it's working as intended!), whereas a cheap one with no surge protection or anti-RFI properties whatsoever worked just fine.
