Hi, i use a netgear DG834g modem router and my brother got a laptop a month ago and will not stop downloading games and films constantly, despite warnings off me the fact that i pay for the internet and what he is doing is illegal.

so... is there a way of me banning his mac address from my network?? effectively stoping him using the internet? The network is already password protected but he knows that and I really dont want to change it

thanks

Can yu maybe do it the other way.Instead of excluding certain MAC adresses, Include only those you want (ie yours - not his).

Turn DHCP off and give yourself a static address. That way he won't grab an address from the router. Unless he has network knowledge.

As I think has already been said if he knows your routers password there is no point in you doing anything as he can easily change it if he has half a brain.

change the password.

if he is using wireless and is the only one doing so, dissable wireless opperation.

you could also use the routers blocked sites functonality to block the p2p networks he uses.

you can also select a list of mac addesses that you want to allow. put your PC/s MACs in, obviously not his.

its also better if he doesnt have physical access to the roughter as he could just use the reset switch to mess all these settings up.

with all things considered i think the best course of action would be to take his laptop and pop it in the microwave for 5 seconds.
