I'm after a basic setup that can play games like Counter Strike Source and alike games. Do you guys think I can build the base for less than £150?

This is the best I could do which is a bit over my budget:

Motherboard
A decent one (any suggestions?) - £35

Processor
Intel Celeron E1400 2.0Ghz Dual-Core Processor (LGA775) - £34

Memory
Corsair 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 Value Select PC2-4200C5 Dual Channel (VS2GBKIT533D2) - £23

Graphic Card
Asus GeForce 9400 GT 1024MB - £34

Hard Drive
Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B 320GB - £32

Decent Case & Optical Driver
Sony Optiarc AD-7240S 24x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter -£19
Case - £20

Total - £197

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated

Thanks

You could build a system that will run XP or Vista/7 with the features turned off.

Will it be any good? Probably not. Might be better off just getting a netbook. Everytime I see a Celeron being used I die a little inside.

Buy a 2nd hand rig, with a reasonable graphics card, something like a 6600GT or Radeon x800, something that really wont cut todays games, but is still fine for earlier DX8-9 stuff.

Cant see any way you can possibly shave another £50 off that build, and if you dont have a dedicated GFx card it really wont run CS:Source playably.

Eg: Some live adverts I found:

Full pc setup 1.8cpu 512 memory 40 gighd 128mg geforce 5500 gfx keyboard mouse monitors and speakers brilliant pc pretty fast bargain £35

Pc for Sale Full Setup, Athlon 2Ghz, 512mb Ram, 256mb Graphics, 100gb Harddrive, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and Speakers. Windows xp, tv Card to watch tv. £80

^ Something like that, depends whats local. Add an OK AGP card off ebay, and your'e reasonably sorted.
