Hi I'm Jonny. An old gamer (43yrs) I got this build from OCUK last September.

My question is can I put a GTX 970 in this? I mean easily without upgrading the PSU or cooling?

Corsair 230t case
I5 4690k OC stage 2
MSI Z97S Sli Plus
Alpenfohn Brocken 120mm Cooler
Kingston Hyper X 16gb 2133Mhz
Asus GeForce 760 Cuii Edition
Samsung 840 Evo 240gb SSD
Super flower golden green 550w PSU
Windows 8.1

Thanks in advance for any advice guys. I will consider upgrading other elements if necessary so any advice on components would be appreciated.

Yes you can.

Should go straight in (loads of room in the case)

I dont even think you need to do anything to the BIOS and if you did you would lose the overclock.

You dont need anything else.

Thanks for the quick reply. Tbh the o/c was never stable and they refunded me for it. I just forgot to take that out of the list.

My computer is currently back with OCUK as it refuses to boot. I'm not moaning I've had perfect performance for months and these things happen. I just thought I might take advantage of it being back to be fixed to also upgrade.

Thanks for the advice though. I shall probably go ahead.

Ok, well its with them then at least there are people to sort it out and get it working/upgraded.

Yep. And they have been solid customer service wise all along. They offered to take the pc back and replace the cpu to get me a stable o/c when it wouldn't come right. I decided I didn't need the o/c really.

The guys at OCUK have been awesome. This is why I bought my pc from them after reading stuff in this forum.

I think I'll go ahead and have them fit the GTX 970 as I'm hankering to see GTA 5 maxed at 1080p and 60 frames lol.

Thanks again for the advice.

That looks nice but I'm kind of wanting to stick with Nvidia. I know this probably makes more sense from a price for performance perspective, and I don't know why because I've never experienced the other way lol. Maybe it's marketing or whatever lol.

Thanks for advice. I'm going for the upgrade as it seems a pity to have these pretty nice components in my pc and not max out the GPU potential.

I might build a secondary system around the GTX 760 Cuii with cheap parts as a backup for when the nightmare of a non-booting pc happens the next time lol!

You should seriously consider the AMD card

I'll look into that. I just read about the Vram issue on the 970. I know it probably won't effect me too much with one screen at 1080p, but the whole point of upgrading was to future proof for the next gen of games and the vram thing is making that card sound a little less future proof.

Thanks for the link. I'll do some reading on the AMD offerings.
