Ok so ive been on a contract with virgin now for about 3 months and i absolutely hate it!!! the reception i get around my area is POOR 2 bars max and i live literally 50 metres away from masts!!!!!!

They also managed to say that i get unlimited virgin calls when for the first 2 months i didnt and got charged for it, after which i contacted them several times and ofcom twice to sort this problem..

I AM NOW SICK AND TIRED OF VIRGINMEDIA AND I WANT RID OF THEM!!!!

Ive been in the contract 3 months so its after the 1st month period and I rang virgin before but they said they cannot cancel it?
surely there must be some way in the world no matter what method to get me off this damn contract?!? a buyout? compensation? cancellation?? im on the edge to writing to ofcom AGAIN because im sick of this poor service!!!

P.S. Before you say anything, i've told virgin about all my problems several times and nothing came of it..

Depending on the circumstances you can normally buy out a contract which is your monthly fees times the amount of months left all in one go. so if you have 10 months left on a £25 month contract you will have to pay £250.

That way the company isnt loosing out on the money that they are owed from you signing a contract.

Is there not a way you can sell the contract to a mate/family then use the money they give you to change to another contract

Does that poor signal affect you tho? I get 2 bars ish around work and its still fine for voice calls, very rarely drops out and only noticeable with slightly slower than normal data transfer.

Unless theres some way in which virgin aren't living upto their end of the contract theres no way you can cancel.

Bingo. Let's get back to basics (and getting angry with them will be no use, you wont get anywhere).

Your phone doesn't pick up signal yet your mast is apparently next to you - Did you check it's actually a T-mobile/Orange mast? Did you check on the ofcom sitefinder? If so did you raise a complaint and ask for a phone replacement if it is indeed, so close as it's obviously broken? Did you go through all the checks with the helpdesk (checking it's a 3G uSIM, checking your APN is correct, switching to UMTS 3G/2G only mode)

Mistakes on bill - I'll be honest, while companies make billing mistakes they did sort it according to your post didn't they? How is wasting your money by buying yourself out going to help this one?

I signed a contract and they won't release me - You signed away your right to stop the contract within the first X months unless you compensate them sorry. It will be in the document you agreed to when you signed in the shop / agreed to it online.

Have you tried to work with them to get things done? It just sounds like you get ANGRYYYY GRRRRRR on the phone to them and then wonder why there's no wonderfix to sort it.

Being too close to a mast can also be bad IIRC as the signal can actually be too powerful for the receiving equipment tho not sure if that applies to phones or not.

The signal doesnt really bother me, i can still text and ring just fine, 2 bars is ok, the only annoying part was that when i first got the phone, they said that i got unlimited virgin calls, however whenever i called another virgin mobile it didnt class as "free", i was charged, and after contacting them on this problem several times it took 2 months to actually fix this problem!!

So although it took 2 months to be fixed it has now been fixed and nothings now wrong  and now the only real reason you want to leave is because you dont like their service.

Like i said before you can buy your contract out as they dont lose any money on it but as you are only 3 months into it and its going to have at least 9 months left most likely 15 though im guessing its going to be pretty expensive and not at all worth it.

I would just suck it up and accept the contract and make it last. You get signal so can make calls etc so they shouldnt be a real problem
