Can i change my 2.16 core duo to a extreme edition?

Ive got a Dell X1710 - its amazing and brilliant, but i want it to be faster :P

Does anyone know if i can upgrade to the 2.67 or 2.93 extreme edition when they are released?

Yeh, thats right. I believe there is another CPU that is compatible though, is it called Meriom or something? Im totally clueless when it comes to this (changing to laptops totally got me out the loop).

Core 2 Duo "Meron" is the laptop chip, you can identify this one by the fact that it's socket 479 instead of 775, and it will have Txxxx part codes (T=35Watt, E=65W, and X=85W). In theory it should be compatible with motherboards that can handle the Core Duo, although I dont know if you would need a bios flash.
