Can I clock my 1333 ram to 1600?

I'm currently running my ram at 1200Mhz using the 6x ratio, with 1.6v and timings at 7-7-7-20.

The next mem ratio is 8x giving me 1600Mhz.

I tried voltage up to 1.64 (the next step is 1.66). I also tried timings at 9-9-9-24 but it fails to post.

My ram is OCZ Platinum, this stuff here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-130-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1390

Are there any other settings I could try changing? Full spec is in my sig.

Its no great loss if it won't go higher just thought it would be nice.

I'm sure I read somewhere you should increase the QPI voltage - don't have an i7 system yet so cannot tell you for sure but I think I read that in a thread somewhere!
 
I thought I read somewhere to never set qpi voltage past 1.2 or something like that. Any way I have 1600mhz platinum ocz in i7 rig and my ram is running at 1460, which is fine with me. my qpi voltage is 1.12, or 1.2 something like that. Personally I didn't understand why I needed to up the qpi voltage as my system was running stable as it was.

btw, my memory settings are all on auto, and I'm at work so I can't remember the timings but I remember them being different than factory specs. I have them running at 1460 by overclocking my qpi to 183, which also gives me 3.84GHZ. It literally goes through 2 pictures when loading GTA IV (if you know what I'm talking about). Fastest load times I have ever witnessed with my own eye. I figure the other 140mhz wasn't going to give me a noticable change anyhow.

It's currently 2:30 my time, at 6 i'll be home if anyone would like me to post my system settings.

Whats your multiplier? bclk? Temps? cooler? I may be able to help you get what your looking for or closer but I'd need to know how hot you are already running. My way involves OC'ing because of fsb needs to be 2x the ram speed. If I try to set settings any other way, system won't post. my ram voltage is at 1.5. I'm sorry I cannot remember everything else. like I said, I can post system info @ 6pm when I get home. I do know my ratio is 2:8
 
what's your vcore? Do you physically notice your ram's slowness? untill I got over 1400mhz, My load times were extremely long, longer than my e2200 with 1066ram. Now they are very fast. Does this sound familiar to you?

I'm almost home and i'll post my settings. I assume your temps are core temps and not overall cpu temp correct?
 
okay my timings are 9/9/9/20 trfc74. 2:8. dramv is 1.55. Try lowering your bclk from 200 say 190(ish) and raising your multiplier to 21x by enabling turbo mode. That should get your ram to the speed you are looking for. Set your memory options for auto because it's the overclocking that will give you the increase you are looking for.

Also do you have HT enabled?

I'm not lowering my bclk for it, I have HT on.

If it wont clock to 1600Mhz then it doesn't matter, I doubt it makes much difference anyway.
 
Mine doesn't want to know. It dropped in price since I bought it too, at current pricing I could have got 1600Mhz stuff way cheaper.
 
I dont think the problem is your RAM wont overclock...

With my 920/UD5 @ stock settings (apart from RAM), I can run my 1600mhz RAM @ 1600mhz.
With the CPU overclocked I cant run my 1600mhz RAM @ 1600mhz.

However I cant find any info on this problem.
I have tried loads of different things.
 
I have 6gb of 1600mhz ddr3 ram with i7 at stock and my pc wouldnt post with all 6gb. So I have sent my mobo back to be replaced, but now I am thinking that i should have Oc'ed my cpu settings to make it boot? When I get my mobo back, should I change the settings? If I need to, then what settings must I change?

I don't mean to piggy back this thread, but I made a separate thread a few days ago in the memory section of the forum, but no one could help.

EDIT: The pc wouldn't boot with ram in the middle orange slot, so that's why I ordered a replacement mobo.
