Hi guys

Im about to have Virgin 50mb installed and wondered if there are any issues with connecting g-wireless devices to the n-router?

I know it may not get the 50mb speed but its for my girlfriends laptop (g only)and she doesn't need 50mb.

Cheers Ferret

Unless it's dual band (i.e. does 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz), you'll usually see some drop in speed with the other wireless clients (if you have any).

if you get the dlink dir-415 router from vigin as part of the deal (i did) everything will be fine.. It does dual band without any issues..

The usb dongle they supply is pretty good as well :-)

ok cheers guys.

I got the Netgear router and it seems to be working ok, although the web browsing on the laptop seems slower than it was before...:(

this is not using the dongle tho, just the inbuilt g network adapter

i have the same problem with laptops built in card. No matter what I do I can't get it above 2-3 mb per second. Using the dongle (which connects at 230mb most of the time) I generally get around 18 - 20 mb per second.

Sticking the dongle in vista gaming machine on the 3rd floor reliably give 40mb per second. Go figure. I have no idea :)
