Can I connect a Wi-Fi laptop to a wired router?

Hi,

Friend of mine wants to connect a Wi-Fi laptop to a wired router in his flat (without using a cable). Is this possible?

if the laptop has an ethernet port then yes, look for a port on the laptop that looks the same as on the router, then you will need some patch cable to connect it

Unless he gets a wireless router then the only option is to use a cable

Or connect a wireless access point to the existing router (or wireless card in another PC and ad-hoc etc).

Thanks guys. I think he's gonna get a new (wireless) router. Not much more than a wireless access point from what I can see.
