Hi I have an unmanaged switch with 1 port going up into the attic for the server (whs 2011) now I would like to connect a win 10 pc to the network, so easiest is to connect another unmanaged switch into this attic line and take the server and pc from this switch. Now after doing this everything on the pc side works fine but I can’t see the server on the network. So can I ask should this work okay in theory, then I know to check the cables ?
Thanks

Router->switch->switch->PC should work fine, if you've got some really old equipment you might need crossover cables between switches but anything sold in the last decade should be able to auto negotiate the connection on a straight cable fine.

Okay update I tried this in various connections but no joy even after rebooting router switches and server and pc, finally got it by switching the main cable going up into the attic from the switch to a spare port on the router and connecting the tv which was in this port to the switch, I am probably too stupid to work out the problem but happy that it’s working now and many thanks for all the help
