Technics seperates turntable or an AKAI R2R unit?

The Akai, something like a 4000D or any analogue tape machine, yes, no problem. The signal is Line Level.

As @tom_nieto says, the turntable is only a Yes if it either has a built-in phono pre-amp or the signal from it runs in to an external phono pre-amp first. The cartridge on a TT doesn't give a line level signal. It's far lower power than that, and the other issue is that without correction there's a really tinny sound. That's because vinyl is recorded with a massively reduced bass signalto stop the needle jumping out of the track. The phone pre-amp does two jobs. It corrects the tonal balance (RIAA equalisation) and then boosts the signal. It still won't be as loud as Line Level from the Akai, but at half volume on the dial the TT should be as loud at the tape deck at 1/4 volume.
