Is it possible for me to control my fan speed? Not the cpu fan but the case fans, I have added a side fan blowing cold air in but it is quite loud and it would be good if I could slow it down when I'm not doing anything too intensive.

Is there any software available for this?

Unless your mainboard supports software control of 'system' fans, ie they're 4pin PWM then no. If they're 3pin or Molex then you're going to need a fan controller.

If your CPU is PWM then it is possible to use the CPU PWM controller via a custom adaptor a member called Tealc makes.

There's lots of ways of controlling fans to make them quieter and they all work by reducing the amount of voltage provided to the fan. How you choose to do this is up to you.

I like the automated control of my Recon fan controller and also the automated motherboard PWM response of my PWM converter to regulate my 3 pin fan speeds. I'm useless at remembering to dial up my fan speeds so rely on software to remember for me.
