i thought you could do this, however even if i boot up i don't get the screen to be able to format and delete my partistions like i used to with xp, after a while it comes up with select my country and keyboard layout, is that right? cos i really wanna format and change my drive layout

cheers dude,

however on his step

on the next Setup screen, you'll be presented with a list of the Windows Vista product editions you can install. This list may vary from locale to locale, but in the US, you'll see Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, and some N editions. Choose the product edition you actually own.

mine just seems to have the egg timer, left it for 10 mins so far :(

Maybe it's trying to read the CD but failing. Try eject, then select your version and put it back in?

I have the 32+64Bit Ultimate Upgrade Pack ( Both Disks )

The funny thing is, that I have tried to upgrade from XP32 and 64 and it wont go!

The only way I have managed to install with these disks is a fresh install!!!???

Dont get me wrong, I dont want to upgrade I dont need the crap left behind, I just fancied doing it for a laugh, but all the same... It would be nice for it to to what its supposed to wouldnt it?

Anyway, on to your issues...

Try

1 - Clean the Disk ( Done )
2 - Try a different Drive
3 - Try different RAM

Top 3 culprits I recon.

Sorry, no, I know that...

I meant that I can neither upgrade XP32 to Vista32, nor can I upgrade XP64 to Vista64.

Sorry, yeah I see what I typed.

No, you are not listening to me...

I can only do a clean install.

I dont need to do any trick to force a clean install because thats all it can do...

I am only saying that I have tried to do an update ( since the disks are update disks ) but I cannot do it. using the 32Bit or the 64Bit Disks.
