Can i do this?

at uni im in halls, and to connect to the internet they provide us with an ethernet cable that i plug into my laptop and use.

can i plug the ethernet cable into a bt voyager 220v router and then use a USB connector to connect the router to my laptop. Then change the settings to allow Bit Torrent for legal downloads?

Their firewall will still block it.

Im not too sure: but check "force encryption" in utorrent might help.

That won't work. The connection which comes to your wall has already passed through the routers and firewalls of the Uni network so all the filtering and port blocking has already been applied and there's nothing you can do to affect that.

Erm no..

You wouldnt be able to use the router as a router as i has nothing to connect to, so basically it would just be a rubbish switch..

damn! whats the point of having uber connection and not getting lots of use out of it!

oh well, just have to download every weekend
