Ok my drivers licence states categories B, B1, f k p
I think I need a C1 on my licence to drive a transit but can anyone confirm ?

Had a full licence since August 2001

Im guessing I cant but just thought I would check, Ive been looking at driving jobs and not sure what I can apply for.

If I do need a C1 how do I get it, another test ?

Cheers

I think the rules changed after 1997 so you couldnt automatically drive larger vehicles on a standard licence

Yes you can't drive 7.5 tonne but can drive upto 3.5 tonne complete total weight

anybody know what classifaction an ambulance comes under

internet friend of mine is a trained paramedic, and last time we went to a LAN, i was asking about the job and stuff, and he said there was a category on your license you need to drive an ambulance

you used to get it automatically, but after the rule changes you dont anymore and have to do a test to get it added ?

Dunno, people are crap enough when they pass let alone with a trailer on the back, I was rolling death when I put a caravan on the back of my car.

strictly speaking, anyone who passed after 1997 will need a C1 to pull a trailer with a Range Rover.
i find that's pretty crazy.

I think you will find you dont need a C1 but to do the trailer test E so it would be B (car) + E (Trailer), just like you get C1+E, C+E, D1+E and D+E etc.

are you stupid? If you have a normal liscence then you can drive a transit as long as it has not been converted to be a minibus which is a completely different kettle of fish.

You have the same categories as me, so it's a newish liscence.

On it you can can:
#Under B:
>Drive a vehicle where the unladen weight of vehicle plus actual weight of trailer do not exceed 3.5 tons.
>Tow a trailer of up to 350Kg where the combination doesn't exceed the previous, and the total weight of the does not exceed half the weight of the trailer vehicle (you're allowed to tow a car though).
>Drive a vehicle with up to 6 passengers???
#Under B1:
>Lightweight 4 wheeled vehicles or something. Milk floats basically.
#Under f:
>Motorbike with L plates less than 35somethings/ton, upon completion of cbt1.
#under p:
>Pedestrian controlled vehicles, for mowing the grass on the soft shoulder (part of the highway).
#under k:
>Tractors.

Could you be any more rude?

Simple rule.

If you passed your test before 1st Jan 1997 you can drive anything up to and including 7.5t (cat C1)

If you passed your test after 1st Jan 1997 you can drive anything up to 3.5t.

fear my l33t driving skills!

Passed both bike and car before 97, so get to drive anything on wheels upto 7.5 tonnes

Indeed, you can also drive a 7.5t vehicle towing a trailer with a maximum combined weight of 12t! (as long as the trailer weight does not exceed the weight of the towing vehicle
