Hi all, had KNEE surgery three weeks ago, been walking about unaided and in no pain for the week to week and half, no limp etc, my registered GP isn't where I am currently staying (its 3 hours away), I feel confident that I can do emergency stops etc, but is there any sort of formal thing saying a GP must allow me?

Did he tell you to NOT drive or inform DVLA?

If not then you can do what you feel safe to do....however if you have an accident it might contribute to a Careless Driving charge (or worse) if it can be determined that your injury contributed to the accident, so be careful.

Do you feel your leg might spontaneously break or cease to function while behind the wheel?

No?

*tosses the keys over to you* :p

wasn't asked to inform DVLA, and just been told a couple of weeks till I should return to driving.

Give your GP a call and just get the ok over the phone, there shouldn't be any issue if you feel fine and up to doing it....best to err on the side of caution though.

Did they not tell you after the op? I had a broken retaining wire taken out of my knee just before Xmas and they said 4 weeks untill it would be safe. I felt safe the day after tbh and didn't wait the full 4 weeks but at least I knew where I would stand (lolpun) if anything had of happened.

If your a woman No!

LMAO.

When I had surgery last year I was told not to drive for 6 weeks. This meant no isnurance cover for 6 weeks as you must not drive against medical advice.

Its basically a case of your GP saying yes or no.
