Can I flash a bios with bitlocker enabled?

I'm having a frustrating time with the Medion X40 (4090) laptop.

Out of the box it doesn't work properly when it uses the graphics card. Loud fans and audio freeze glitching.

I'm told these issues can be resolved via a bios flash.

I'm having to wait to get the latest bios. But in the meantime I've been reading that I need to turn bitlocker off before I bios flash, otherwise I'll need the rescue codes?

Then I was reading that Windows 11 Home version doesn't have bitlocker? I'm using home and it says it's on. So can someone give me some clarification before I have to start delving into the bios?

All help appreciated.

I think the safest thing for you to do here is to check if bitlocker is available / enabled and if it is, get a copy of the keys for any drive(s) with it active.

You can check availability and status per drive by: Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Device encryption > BitLocker drive encryption (if BitLocker isn't available you won't be able to follow the full path).

Alternatively, if you are signed in to your Microsoft account as your user area then you could just follow this how to in order to get the recovery keys (no keys, no bitlocker): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-windows-6b71ad27-0b89-ea08-f143-056f5ab347d6

My work laptop has bitlocker enabled and I am using Windows 11, this is how I backup\find out the BitLocker keys.

If you click on start and type bitlocker you should see "manage bitlocker" appear, click on this.

On the next window that appears there is an option to "Backup your recovery key" click this.

It will give you 4 options such as save to file or USB stick. This will create a txt file with your recovery keys in.

You can also turn off BitLocker from here as well
