Bought over 1 yr ago from OCUK with a special £399 price.Stupidly on purchase a google could only find card linked from asia from MSI and a post about a bios mistake with OC missing.The card still is or should be fastest oc 580 with 823 core 2150 memory etc.
So anyways i had to move house and all my savings went on that and left me with a MSI 580 OC and no money until recently to finnish the build.And unlike 99% of the forum posts about missing OC bios and the cards all being bad batches without overclocks to my horror mine actually had the correct bios with the wrong voltage.I thought all that time it was just a default clocked 580.
I can run BF3 for 5 mins and i black screen.Just cause roughly 10 mins shogun 2 black screen in menu.So ive checked the default voltage and it is only 1000v and its simply unstable.Ive fixed it by putting the core voltage to 1050 and keeping the overclock and ive not had a single problem apart from 90c load temps.Im not going to hunt down an RMA over christmas and be without it over the holidays so im going to try to hunt down a fix for this that doesnt mean using rma to get a used 580 for what is a brand new 580.
A strange position im in and quite tricky as right now i cannot resell a card that is unstable in BF3.Upon google it seems this is quite the issue atm with MSI being guilty of selling cards that are unstable when BF3 starts to hit them with 99% GPU usage which is exactly what all DX 11 games do to this card.
