Can I flash the BIOS on my 290x for better overclocking?

I bought a 290x when it first was released, a basic stock one (manufacturer was HIS IIRC). It overclocks very poorly, anything over ~1075 core clock and I get crashes in certain games (Dota 2, Witcher 3).

I heard that the BIOS can be a determining factor for overclocking, but I've never done it before. What would I flash to, how much could it improve overclocking, and what would be the best way to do it? Thanks!

So many things determine the OC abilities.. Heat dissipation, ASIC quality, BIOS, PSU and drivers just to name a few.. First and foremost how warm does it get with your current stable OC?

I'm in the same boat, as my Tri XR9 290 can't go above 1075 either. Tried all sorts of bioses and nothing helped. It's just the luck of the draw. I flashed the Trix OC bios which makes it run at 1030/1400 and just said sod it i'll leave it there.
