Can I get a cheap student disc for Windows Vista?

If your school's registered for msdnaa then you can get a copy of vista business free :)
Of course it depends if you're eligible, i.e., your enrolled to the computer dept who are covered by the msdnaa.
MSDNAA search

As well as MSDNAA which covers the vast majority of MS software for free, (but requires your establishment to cooperate (my uni has MSDNAA but won't give out any software to the students)), ther eis also MS Dreamspark but that's pretty much just Server 2003 and VisualStudio 2008

Alternatively for £200 or so you could get a Technet Online subscription which includes Vista and lots of other things - £200/yr and you're supposed to stop using the software after your subscription expires...

Thanks for the tips, looks like we aren't with that microsoft scheme..

So the "ultimate" ;)upgrade from software4students looks best,

- What does it upgrade from and what do I need? Does it upgrade from my Windows XP Media Centre?

- Does it format my harddrive or keep all my old information on it?

- If it does keep my old stuff, does it work as well as I could expect?
