I'm currently buying the parts for my first 'home made' PC. I could really use some help with checking the best parts for my budget, ppl in shops keep trying to sell me stuff!

I've bought the MB and CPU already; ASUS 1155 P8Z68-V PRO S/L, Intel Sandybridge i5-2500 Core i5 Quad

The rest of the parts I've got so far and still to buy are;

Case - Zalman Z9 Plus Tower £60
RAM - 8GB KG-Skill Ripjaw (DDR3, 1600Ghz) £40
PSU - 600W Corsair CMPSU-600GUK Gaming Series £60
HD - Samsung F3 1TB OEM £100
OS - Windows 7 £80

GFX - Undecided, Would spend £100-200
SC - Asus Xonar D1 7.1 PCI £55

(approx. prices)

I've got £500 to spend on these parts between now and January which is when I plan to have something ready. I'm reasoning that I can leave the sound card and GFX card till February when I'll have more cash. The MB has reasonable integrated graphics and I have an external SC also.
Does this look sensible or are the other parts I could change for better performance? I'm pretty open to suggestions. This is going to be for online gaming and studio work. Sound quality is also valuable to me as I have some nice speakers to listen to music and films.
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Did you buy the i5-2500K?

That's the one you need, along with a good CPU cooler, if you plan on any serious overclocking.

Yep looks ok
Ask nearer the time re which gfx card as it can change quite quickly
Ease tell me your CPU is the 2500k not just 2500? If not I seriously recommend you go get it changed

Dammit, I bought the 2500. NVM, I know I can get it changed, it will just take some time. Thank you very much for letting me know this.
I'll wait on the GFX card then and I'll get started on sorting the other parts.
I forgot about the cooling. As I'll be OCing it, any advice on the best type for this setup?
Cheers for the help!
