If your only looking for a car to tide you over a short period then the only good thing about buying a Mk3 Golf is you will still get a decent price for it regardless of it's condition.
It's cheap because v5 bora's aren't that popular due to their fuel consumption, but that is the older 150bhp v5 which is even less popular because it has less poke and it's just as thirsty. don't be fooled by the listing, W reg means it's the older engine.
mk2 mondeo are the older shape ones like Fox kined for £500.
mk3's are the newer ones like you linked earlier.
I'd consider a mk3 as well - you can get one for close to £1k. high mileage diesels are extremely likely to throw massive bills at you though so steer clear.
I quite like the look of this for the air con, warranty and years MOT. He said he can put 6 months tax on it for me too.

Buy that. I mean the airbag light is on and the box is screwed but who cares? It's in budget and has the right badge!

how about that then? Its cheap because its old and its a horrid colour.
Buying an old high mile BMW for a cheap run around is like running a delivery business in a mini.......![]()
Finance a big Mercedes, make sure you don't get a warranty and it has that brilliantly reliable airmatic suspension stuff that never goes wrong and is dead cheap to replace. Clearly the OP is poorly written and his request is not actually for anything decent/tidy/reliable ergo anything is game for suggestion right?
