Just looking to upgrade the above components, already got an Nvidia 8800gts, will add a hard drive later.

Can I get better for similar money?

If gaming is the most CPU intensive thing you're doing with the PC you wouldn't notice any difference going for the quad core:

A lot of games actually run slightly better on the 955.
