im currently on a virgin 50meg line and my pc is connected to the router via a cable, for some reason when my brother listens to the radio on his laptop my connection gets really slow

i had a look in my router settings but cant seem to find a way to give my pc priority, is this even possible?

What router do you have? it will either be router based QoS or in extreme cases traffic shaping to cap the other persons speed but your probably looking at more advanced routers for shaping, QoS can be done on some modern Linksys routers & Drayteks if your looking in to bandwidth management on a home bases

Edit: Just seen Virgin 50mb

that isnt your problem at all, he's prob using a 128/192kbit stream so not very taxing on your 50meg line.

visit speedtest.net and pingtest.net and post your results.
