Hi everyone! Currently I have following components remained from another PC:
- Asus ROG Strix RTX 3080 10gb
- Bequiet Dark Rock Slim
- EVGA PSU 750w
- Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2

And I really want to try 13600K, so does it make any sense to buy it with some Z690 motherboard and ddr4 3600 cl18 to build up PC for 1440 gaming mostly?

What are you upgrading from ? Is the old PC still working?

The 3080 will absolutely work with the new 13600/Z690 combo but you may need a new cooler or to contact Bequiet and get a LGA 1700 mounting kit. PSU is on the low side but you can always test and see and if it works ok then just carry o.

It is not an upgrade, my another PC is kind of 3600+b450+5700XT, PSU 650w. I better sell it in case I could do something new using components I have mentioned. So I can try with current 750w PSU?

if money is no object why not ddr5 ?
Lower budget is better, ddr5 is not the thing I'm really aiming at

well you didnt actually state one did you ;)
Right you are, sorry. I want to spent just a reasonable price to get a stable config with 13600K. Would be glad for your tips if I can continue building like this and what exact components you can recommend it such a case. Thanks in advance!

LOL whats a reasonable price ? Your reasonable price might not be someone elses !
Sure it might, everybody has their own reasons. My main concern was if it is okay to use components I have with a new 13600K. If it is, that would be great to know what can I pick as motherboard and ram. I'm not really into market but let's say I have $500-700 to spent cpu+mb+ram. Lower budget is better as I said.

If you are in the US then you are best looking at your regions pricing and what is available. Hard enough to keep up with UK/EU availability and pricing.

Guys I'm not expecting the exact components at exact price to buy from the comments here. I know pricing and availability is a big issue in different countries. I basically visiting current resource to see opinions from UK/Europe and form my own and then try to find something in terms of it on the market where I am at the moment.

Instead of going Intel, what about just getting a 5600/5800X/3DCache?

What RAM have you got now?

PCI-E 4 adds next to nothing outside benchmarks.

Personally I would drop a Ryzen 5800X3D in your B450 motherboard but if you do decide to go down the Intel route with a 13600k and a Z690 motherboard make sure you get a board that has bios flashback or the 13600k probably won't work in it.

Actually I was going to make 5600x + Asus ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING initially, but suddenly fell under spell of the new i5. May be it is just marketers intrigues and I do not really need it? :D

Let's assume I don't have RAM, I had nice G.Skill Trident 3600 cl16, but now it is not available on my market (hopefully it will appear)

I was not going to upgrade my old PC but thank you for mentioning bios flashback, will keep in mind

Yes, it makes sense to buy the Intel Core i5-13600K and a Z690 motherboard with DDR4 3600 CL18 RAM to build a PC for 1440 gaming. The components you have listed are all high-end components that will provide excellent performance for 1440 gaming. The RTX 3080 10GB graphics card is more than capable of handling 1440 gaming, and the Bequiet Dark Rock Slim CPU cooler and EVGA PSU 750w will provide plenty of power and cooling for the system. The Sabrent Rocket NVMe PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD will provide fast storage for your games and other applications. All in all, this setup should provide excellent performance for 1440 gaming.
