Can i have some advice on my strange connection problem?

Hi guys have a prob with my internet conn this might sound silly but im not sure why its happining, right i have moved my pc upstairs in my house now and i have phone sockets in all of my rooms but when ever i turn on my router the dsl light never lights up it only works on the socket downstairs is there a reason for this? i plugged my phone into the sockets upstairs and the phone seemed to work fine

think i have found out why i just dialled 150 on my phone and everytime it says welcome to virgin media i dont have cable the previous owners did and when i dialled 150 downstairs it says welcome to bt so im guessing all the sockets upstairs are for cable only is there a way to get them changed to bt do you no?

Sounds like theres a different line going upstairs
