Hi just bought myself a new board,CPU,memory, and graphics card and wondered if i can put two of the same cards in the system.the mb is an asus p5w deluxe and says its crossfire ready, and the card is an x1950xt sapphire version.basicly can i just buy another card and have two in crossfire config,or am i missing something.sorry if this is an obvious answer to some but i`ve not upgraded for a while so not really up on the latest tech...CHEERS GUYS.

yeah u should be able to drop another gfx card in there, and if i remember correctly for the x1950xt series cards you do not need a master card so you should be able to drop another in there (best wait for others views on this just in case i am wrong)

best bet would be to sell what you have and just buy a 8800gt 640mb which should be faster than two in crossfire and draw less power.

the cards below 1950 (and inc) require both slave and a master cards, you should determin which wou have (probly a slave) and buy the other (to match)

the 2900 uses a newer system similar to that of sli where by you just need two of the same model of card

but i would myself like to know wheither you could mix and match a 512mb 2900 and a 1gb 2900 and use crossfire

Yeah you can just drop another x1950 XT in there for Crossfire if you want, doesn't even have to be the same brand, but id look for a specific x1950 master card and do it that way, as theres a performance hit when doing it doing it through the software instead.

You probably can match the 512mb and 1gb 2900's as they are the same cards, just ones got GDDR4 memory, but theres not much point as you would only get 512mb, as it would go by the lowest amount (i think).
