Can I improve upload speed without moving home?

I live in a flat with a single phone point, so I think my options are fairly limited with regard to moving the modem. I'd like to stay with Be* as my ISP.

I have an old and possibly knackered phone connected using a generic filter, and a short wire leading to a Thomson TG585 v7. Stats are hopefully readable in the image below, it doesn't usually report 0 kB for data transferred & was turned off this morning to plug in an iron.

I'm hoping to improve the upload speed. Can I do so by changing settings in the router, by replacing it with a better modem, or by replacing the current filter / telephone? It seems better to ask before buying anything.

Doing away with the land line entirely isn't an option, as she who must be obeyed feels it is required.

Any advice would be very welcome :)

I assume you mean that it being briefly without power this morning invalidates the rest of the statistics. It'll be a bit of a let down if so, but I can post an updated screenshot in the future. Would a week be sufficient?

Adsl modems don't like to be unplugged as it can take ' a while' maybe a week to get them up to speed as they negotiate the line quality and speed constantly until they can go no higher, (or something). Somebody with more adsl experience can perhaps expand on this

You could ask Be to switch you to "Upload Plus" aka Annex M but you will sacrifice some of your download speed.
