If I create a second partition on my win 7 drive and download a linux ISO, can I install this ISO onto the new parition using something like Alcohol or Magic iso or would I need to burn the ISO onto a CD and install the traditional way?

I know I can install a Windows ISO this way but not sure about linux ones.

Afraid not. The Linux installer uses Linux tools to install the os, and its usually a filesystem windows cant read. Plus there is the bootloader, which windows really doesn't like giving up.

Your 100%, as I don't have any blank CD's?

depends what you need it for, I think the next big update to w10 is meant to bring the ability to run some linux software.

Well it seems I can do this after all, there is a program called debian installer loader which does allow to start the install from within Windows.
