Yeah, I've got one of the orignal EEE's and that runs xp fine... apart from the lack of space.

Cool, i assume it's capable of running old games like baldurs gate too?

Also, i was gonna chuck in a SD card, i assume i could install stuff to that too in order to somewhat alleviate the space issues?

Cool, cheers for the replies guys.

Thing is, after doing some browsing i've noticed the EEE 1000H. Now this has a slightly larger screen (10") and a 160gb harddrive with windows XP preinstalled for £20 more. If i wanted to install XP on the 900 i'd need to buy an external dvd drive which will prob cost about that anyway.

So, what's the catch with the EEE 1000H? It seems a little too good to be true, £20 extra for a hard drive 8 times larger?

Good question, i'm sure as long as we don't mention where we could get one from ;)

But paying an extra £20 for an extra 100gb, bigger screen and with XP already installed seems a great deal.

Aye, it does sound like too good an offer to pass up on. Anyways, cheers for the advice/feedback guys, i think i'll go for the 1000H.

It's a regular hard drive though, not an SSD, which is why it's only slightly more expensive despite the x8 increase in capacity.

dont forget for portabilty having bigger screens, an ordinary hd etc will kill the time you can use the netbook without mains!
PS I have a netbook eeeepc 901 with 16gb ssd HD installed and 2 gb memory instead off 1gb, has the 6600 Mah battery very happy paid 184.00 pounds for it .

Yeah 4Gb is horrendous, had to disable so much of windows components that love eating up space, especially updates.
I use a 16GB USB and a 16GB SD card for space though.

I'm loathe to add a usb stick to it since my wife, who uses it most, dropped her old laptop and snapped a usb wifi stick...
