CAN I MAKE LAPTOP AN ACCESS POINT HELP PLEASE

HI ALL

to cut a long story short i need to connect my wii to the net to update the firmware on it and get a game or 2 from the shop

thing is i dont have a wireless connection and aint splashing out 15 quid for the lan adapter

my question is this

my sister is bringing her dell lappy round tomorrow wich has both a ethernet port and a wireless card /connection

is it possible for me to plug my ethernat cable into the lappy then enable the wireless feature on laptop and get my wii to search for it

is this even possible

if you connect to the net via cable and then create a ad havoc connection yes you can by the looks of it;

bridge the connections and then as ste_bla said set up ad-hoc

£15 for a wireless adapter? Bargain if you ask me, just go ahread and buy it and you dont have to go through the hasle of setting up anything and have wires trailing about!!!

Noo its £15 for a usb>to>wired adapter, the wii has wireless capibilites built it

sorry but where sells the usb - ehternet adapter?

I have looked and can only find refereence to one being released in december

I have tried a generic one and got no joy, got an error code and a message like "you ethernet conection is not plugged in correctly"

I tested the adapter in a pc and it required a driver for windows, so I am guessing that is the problem.

If any body has a link to one that defintaly works, I woudl be very grateful.

I even tried conecting to a borrowed wi fi router and was getting the incredibly slow update problem (about an hour for the progress bar to advance an inch on my tv )
