Got a drive connected straight to the TV, would like to be able to access it within Windows and Synology DSM, so I can copy videos to it.

Is this something that I can do?

Sadly not, it comes up saying 'network folder not found' and I had the TV on when trying.
I set the IP of the TV to manual, but no joy.

Can you not connect the drive to your Synology NAS box and either get the to TV to attached a network share or use the Plex or DNLA app on the Synology?

Highly unlikely that the TV would support that.

On the contrary, if it's a smart TV then it will support something like Plex or DNLA so that looks like the solution to me. Why have a drive attached some something that's not your NAS? Kind of defeats the point!

Cheers chaps. It's not the end of the world if I have to remove the hdd and connect it to the nas to copy files.

The TV is wireless, but the connection is a bit iffy, actually may look into running an ethernet cable to it.
