Hi,

Just got myself a new TV. At the moment its hooked up via DVI (from 4870) to VGA (TV). With all TV's, there is input lag, and i've reduced it as far as it will go. However, the sound coming from my soundcard isnt delayed, thus i have sync issues. Even running the sound outputs into the TV doesnt 'sync' with the amount of input lag i'm getting, which is really inconvenient.

Seeing as though i cannot output digital/HDMI sound from my soundcard (M-Audio Fast Track USB), my only other option would be to get a cheap secondary GPU, with HDMI out, and run a 'sync'd' signal to the TV.

My motherboard is the Asus P5Q-Pro which supports crossfire iirc, and definatly has another GPU slot. Only other issue is the 4870 uses up both PCI power slots, but i'm sure you can get adapters (ie from a spare moxel connection) I'm running a 550W Be Quiet, so should have enough power for a low energy card.

Would this work? Sorry if it's a daft question, but i've never really heard of anyone mixing a mid-high end GPU with a low one for completely different purposes. Would like to keep it under £50, as i've just spent £500 on the telly!

Thanks in advance.

Yes the adapter will carry both picture and sound (7.1 I think) through the HDMI cable. Make sure you have the driver installed for the sound direct from ATI.

Can i use any adapter, or does it have to be one supplied with the card? (I didnt get an adapter).

should be able to use any but i cant be sure i no people have used that adaptor on other cards for the video part..... sorry cant be more helpful

No problem. Thanks for your help :)

Failing that, is it possible to add a low cost secondary video card to a system? I preume it would have to ATi?
