can i mix ocz ram with corsair?

Hi, i originally had 4x1gb corsair xms2 ram @ 800mhz (native)

about a month and a half a go i upgraded to 2x2gb OCZ platinum @ 1000mhz (native)

and i was wondering (which i think i cant for compatibility reasons) if i could put two of the corsair sticks into the two empty dimms i have?

so like:

Dimm1 OCZ
Dimm2 XMS2
Dimm3 OCZ
Dimm4 XMS2

if possible just to fill the empty slots and have that extra ram (probably not needed however)

yes you can do this and as long as you set the settings all to be the same and slow the 1000mhz ram down to 800mhz then its not a problem, however it will not be as efficent and you will be running slower

you would be better off to sell the 4x1gb stuff and buy another set of ocz 1000mhz to add in

yeah i was wondering which speed it would be run at, 4gb is enough, i just wanted to use the spare slots up with that xms2.

I think its best getting the same ocz ram again if thats wha im going to do in the future.

ill keep the xms2 ram spare
