Can i overclock?

Hi, i'll be honest and say that i've got no experience with OC'ing and wouldnt know where to start. Had a friend recommend practically all of the parts to my system (which i bought in january) but after my initial attempts at overclocking resulted in blue screens appearing now and then, i decided to run at the stock 3.3Ghz.

If anyone could help me with some setting to get my system overclocked to between 4.2Ghz and 4.6Ghz (if thats at all possible) here are my pc specs:

CPU: I5-2500K 3.3GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA 1155
MOBO: Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3
Cooler: Antec Kuhler H20 620 CPU Watercooler
PSU: Corsair Professional Series Gold AX850
RAM: 2x Corsair Vengeance Blue 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: Asus HD7970 Direct CUII Top

Im not too fussed if i need to buy some better parts to make overclocking to say 4.6GHz a more feasible option so any recommendations would also be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, so far I've only attempted to overclock using the Asrock UEFI to load an "Optimized CPU OC Setting" of 4.6GHz with the CPU voltage set to auto. I've read guides and it seems 1.25v-1.27v is necessary to OC at 4.5GHz yet people posting on forums have said they have set this value to between 1.3v and 1.35v. If i do set the CPU voltage manually to 1.27v, my computer reboots as soon as it gets to the "Starting Windows" screen so i assume 1.27v isnt enough for me to OC at 4.6GHz.

I quickly ran Prime 95 for 25 mins (I know thats not very long but im not sure how long my pc will last before it reboots or blue screens) and i have the following results:

Not sure what the VID is exactly, ive searched around and dont understand why its so much higher than the core voltage reading in CPU-Z which itself I am guessing is a little high.
