Can I port a number between contracts in different names?

I've had a contract that my wife uses for a few years while she built up some credit history in this country. She's now able to get her own contract and wishes to do so but keep the number that she current uses.

So, is it possible to port a number that's registered to a contract in my name, to a new contract on another network in her name?

My O2 contract -> Her 3 contract

I guess there's always the port to PAYG then port to contract route if people think this isn't possible.

You can't port numbers currently tied to a contract so you'd need to close the contract in your name and port it. You're likely going to have to do the PAYG MSISDN shuffle :)

The name the contract is under doesn't matter.

A number transfer simply requires a Number and the PAC code.

As above though, a network will not give you a PAC code whilst you're under contract - therefore you'd have to buy it out (but for some reason I get the impression that you're no longer under the o2 contract)...

Yeah, no shuffle required then. Phone up O2, request code and ask them what will happen when you transfer. They will likely say "the contract will terminate on day of transfer, we will bill you" but they might require month end etc... best to check. Goto 3 with PAC, job done.
