Can i power fans from USB?

I am looking to make a custom laptop cooler and i am thinking of sticking a few fans under the stand itself but what i want to know is can i power fans from usb? if so what do i need to do it?

USB's are 5v aren't they... i'm not sure about this but could you maybe take power from your laptop charger cable? Though looking at my charger, it says 19v :S...

You need some 5V fans. Or if you are happy running them at a slower speed, some 12v fans will spin (albeit very slowly) at 5v.

And finding most laptop power adapter plugs are difficult!

I assume your gonna use this purely at home right? Can you source a 12v power supply? It can be a comp one if you want... but a general one should do fine... and then just hook some fans in it... and maybe incorporate into your laptop cooler/leave it beside with a connector? It would be a lot easier.
