As title really. I didn't take the upgrade option when I renewed my contract instead opting for much cheaper line rental.

I am sort of interested in upgrading my camera phone. It's a K800i. The main use is occasionally blue tooth - taking loads of photos and the usual guff or talking and texting. I don't game, browse or email from it and won't need the internet.

So if I purchase a phone in the USA will it work here if I just stick the SIM card inside?

You'll have to make sure the handset you buy is GSM and unlocked.

However, there's not much point (unless you're buying an iPhone). Prices are generally cheaper in Europe and the selection of phones is better this side of the Atlantic too.

Really? Is that true? Damn - I was hoping to upgrade my phone and get myself a SE K850i :/

The C902 looks sweet!

Edit 2 - Though saying that it doesn't look as though it's really that much better over the K850i....the latter also has a Xenon Flash as well

Yes hes right, the phone selection over there is pretty dire. I took my n95 8gb over to Canada over xmas and i must have had a few hundred people asking me which phone it was and then running off to see if any of the stores over there had any:p.

Its cheaper to buy a phone here mate plus you will be guaranteed that it will work over here and there.

US phones have a different frequency band over European, so unless the phone you bought was quad band reception might be problematic.
