Can I put an Accelero X2 on a X1950XT?

I've got a Sapphire X1950XT 256mb PCI-E winging its way to me in the next week, and I have an Accelero X2 knocking about from last Summer that I used to have on an X1800XT that I sold to a friend with its original cooler. Will I be able to put the X2 on the Sapphire?

I've checked out AC's website and it mentions the X1950pro, and something about some cable modding for the X1950XT-X, but nothing about the XT...

Have they changed anything about the X2 since last year, or have they just added that it's X1950 compatible in the info? I can't really tell.

yes it will suppourt it :)

But I'd rather go for the Zalman VF900-CU :)

Oh, well, I've also got a Zalman VF700-Cu that is currently on my 7600GT and that I'm well pleased with - do you think that will cut the mustard for the X1950XT?

I just checked Zalmans website and it says it's suitable for an X1800, but that was when it was last updated in 2005. Checking the leaflet that came with it (yes I still have that and all the packaging and even the case badges!) it just says X**** series.

Does anybody know if the X1950XT runs about the same temps as an X1800 and has the same fittings?

By the way, Zalmans website kept tying to infect me with a Trojan, according to AVG anyway.

The Zalman VF900 will do a better job of cooling an X1950 than an X2 will, go for it. :)

Hmmmm... a toss up...

Zalman VF900 - £24.95 + postage

Accelero X2 - sitting in cupboard doing nowt

Zalman VF700 - currently doing a good job cooling my 7600GT which I'll be selling on fleabay but the jury is out as to whether this is X1950XT compatible so it might have to go with the 7600GT as a selling point

.... I think I'll go with the cheapest option ;)

I forgot that you had an X2 sitting around doing nothing, or I would've just said put that on. I was under the impression you "weren't really using" the VF900 and were willing to swap it to the other card. :o

Just use the X2 and in future there's not much point in asking a question you already know the answer to. ;)
:)

Well, it's not a VF900 I got on the other card, it's a VF700, and as yet I've not determined if its rated for an X1950XT.

I'd have to pay extra cash for a VF900.

My original question was would I be okay putting an X2 on an X1950XT, technically speaking. But lets not start a war of the pedants ;)

BTW, I wish they'd move away from using X's and GT's in graphics cards... and mixing them up. Why don't they use a nice letter, like J, or M, or Y? Or give them proper names?

Perhaps one day we'll see something along the lines of like the 'nVidia Derek JJM OC 2046mb' or the 'AMD Radeon Jemima HD 4GB Extreme' in the OcUK store?
