I have a dell 5150c PC (as shown here: http://crave.cnet.co.uk/desktops/0,39029426,39195751,00.htm) which is making a hell of a noise. I dont really have the money to upgrade the whole unit so thought either some form of replacement cooling solution or even a new quieter case would solve the problem, but I know these use Dell's own BTX specification, or whatever they are called.

Im wondering therefore if there is anything I can buy that will quieten this animal down, as it sounds like a small aeroplane is in the room when the CPU load gets too high!

Thanks

Just wonder where all the noise come from? case fan? PSU? GFX? If your wallet not allow to spend aot so make sure where all the noise come from and solve it there.

Its from the CPU. Ive replaced the thermal compound on it a couple of times, but uner load it sounds awful....Not sure what else to try...

You cannot just "change the cooler" as its specific to the case, swap it out for a standard cooler and it will overheat.

contact dell for a replacement but it may well be normal for it to be loud as it will have to work hard at keeping cool in such a small chasis
