Im trying to upgrade my build on the cheap, atleast to start off with..

My current setup has this memory:
Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz CL15 XMP 2.0 High Performance

Will I be able to use this on a new Ryzen 3600 (ish) setup without much problems? Or will I be silly to do so, and should buy some new (faster) RAM instead?

Definitely reuse on a budget build.

At best I believe the performance difference would be ~10% between say 3000Mhz and 3600Mhz RAM

Well I have 2x8GB HyperX ( Kingston ) 2400mhz. I have oc'd to 3000mhz at about 1.35v and it runs perfectly with the R5 3600

Yeah, give it a try. It's low CAS which is half the battle won. Wait until you need an upgrade to get faster.
