Can I reinstall Quake 4 without losing my games?

Basically I'm only half way through Quake 4. I'm not very good at games so as you can imagine it's taken me a long way to get where I am. Whenever I load it up now it crashes, and takes me back to windows.

Should I reinstall Quake 4 over the current installation?
Should I uninstall it, and then reinstall it again?

Will I lose my game data?

You can easily backup your saved games by copying the 'savegame' folder in the Quake 4 directory.

E.g. C:\id Software\Quake 4\q4base\savegames

If you copy that folder somewhere safe and uninstall and reinstall the game and finally copy the folder back to the same location, you should still have your saved games.
