Well as per title, i took advantage of the upgrade offer this afternoon and updated my OS to windows 8 from Win7 64bit.

Ive got to be honest i'm not really liking the new interface and the whole log on screen thing.
My question is has anyone downgraded back to win 7 and managed to keep their files and settings?
I'd prefer not to have to go through a full reinstall if at all possible.

I managed to set my account up so that it doesnt need a password entered but the 2nd account (my wifes) wont let me do this for some reason, both are microsoft accounts.. using the same method as the admin account has no effect.

Switch her to a local account then remove the password. You might need to log her back into mail/people apps again.

Did you use "netplwiz" to sort out the login with your account?

As mentioned, you'd have to do a format and re-install as there's no downgrade path.

On the other hand, you've just started using Windows 8, I'd give it a bit more time before throwing in the towel.

Also, if you really detest the metro screen that much take a look at Lum's excellent collection of tips and tricks to de-metroify the OS: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18473860
