Can I return an opened XBox?

Just wondering, I bought an Xbox360 the other day to play Forza 3. However the game is poor, the xbox is'nt brilliant and I am left with an overall disatisfaction with it.

Looking on the high street retailers website it says I can return hardware within 28 days if still sealed. It doesn't say anywhere about returning opened products.

Now with the game I am not bothered, I'll happily take the hit on that but the console itself, I still have the box, the plastic wrapping the cables came in etc. and I have used it 3 or 4 times.

Anyone have experience returning something to a high street game retailer?

Cheers.

Because it didn't live up to my expectations? Where I work we take things back no questions asked if it has been used.

I've never owned a console before now. Only ever had a fairly decent PC in the past so had a G25 and a lot of driving games which kept me entertained but was looking into Forza etc. which looked really good from reviews and word of mouth but sadly I do not like the controls or the gameplay itself.

The media center was another thing that drew me to the xbox but it's really buggy and is laid out in such a poor manner, I have to have all my tv shows under the videos section, it's slow as well :( and I have a lot of generic videos I watch as well and when I try and load it in MCE it freezes the xbox.

Why do I have to keep it if I'm not impressed by it? How could I have done anything different except buy it and try it?

You should have done your research before buying to see if it would meet your expectations...

How do I demo a game that I have to buy the console to play first?

Anyway before this thread descends once again into berating the poster I'll just suck it up and see if I end up liking it.

Cheers Guys, I know I came off a bit hot headed in the original post, was just a bit miffed is all. Like I said where I work someone can buy a computer, fill the HDD etc. and bring it back 14 days later for a full no questions asked refund.

It's no big deal I guess if I can't return it. I may end up liking the game/console who knows. I've seen some software called Connect 360 which looks like it might be better than using MCE. And I have tried media browser but it sadly crashes when opening folders with all my videos in.

I would use XBMC but I don't want to void my warranty just yet.

It has 72Gb of videos in the folder, last time I left it for about 20 minutes, came back and the screen had gone blank but the console was still running and connected as the extender, it might be some videos in there, they are MKVs but it really struggles.
