Can i reuse a 10year old PSU as long as its good quality?

I used a TAGAN that I remember my late father and I replacing under warranty by driving up to Telford and doing an "in-person" test and swap (It must have been 2006 as I couldn't drive). I only replaced this about 2 years ago. It was "fine" but I can't imagine it was power efficient, and if I remember correctly, a lot of weird gremlins disappeared when I swapped it. As the old saying goes... they don't make them like they used to. I had to swap the replacement within 12 months when it stopped working, and then upgrade it totally a year after that when it broke again.

Edit: just realised there is an entire thread just below this of people running very old PSUs.

I recently got rid of my Corsair TX750 because I wanted a modular PSU with a zero RPM fan mode.
There was nothing wrong with it running an overclocked 1080Ti. I bet my system topped out at near 500W too.
The PSU was from 2008 I think. I paid £65 for it NEW when the £ was strong against the $ from Overclockers when they were at the tiny business unit in Fenton!
I would have kept it if it was not for how quiet my water cooling loop was.

My advice is to consider the brand and wattage against what you intend to do with it.
If if is from a good brand then running a 10 year old PSU is fine, just make sure you leave ~20% margin to count for the capacitors degrading over time.

I've got an Antec NeoPower 550 from 2007.
It was my main PSU, then went into a second computer, and now it is in a Media-PC that doesn't need much power and only gets used for a few hours per week.
I have taken it apart and cleaned it out a couple of times to keep the fans and heatsinks clear of dust.
It still works fine.
